Jeudis du Cerege : Silicon in agriculture: from the field to the fork

Jean-Dominique Meunier, member of the Sustainable Environment team.

Silicon is the second most common element, after oxygen, on the earth's surface and in soils. The beneficial role of this element for the growth of cultivated plants such as rice or wheat is well documented, but the mechanisms involved are still under debate. In this presentation, we will review the biogeochemical cycle of silicon in agricultural soils and issues in agriculture.
