Les carottes de glace, produits d\u2019un effort international, permettent de r\u00e9cup\u00e9rer des bulles d\u2019air des anciennes atmosph\u00e8res pi\u00e9g\u00e9es dans la glace. Elles nous ont fourni 800 000 ans de donn\u00e9es \u00e0 hautes r\u00e9solution et pr\u00e9cision et ont r\u00e9volutionn\u00e9 notre compr\u00e9hension du syst\u00e8me terrestre. ForCry, une technique con\u00e7ue par le laur\u00e9at ERC Thomas Chalk, permettra de basculer dans une nouvelle g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de donn\u00e9es climatiques du pass\u00e9.<\/p><p>Les s\u00e9diments marins offrent la\u00a0possibilit\u00e9 de r\u00e9cup\u00e9rer des enregistrements de haute r\u00e9solution spatiale\u00a0et\u00a0temporelle du pH de l&#8217;oc\u00e9an moderne et pass\u00e9, et donc du niveau\u00a0de CO2\u00a0\u00e0 ces\u00a0\u00e9poques. Cependant\u00a0\u00e0 ce jour, la g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de ces donn\u00e9es est limit\u00e9e par des\u00a0m\u00e9thodes d\u2019analyse intensives qui r\u00e9duisent\u00a0leur application haut-d\u00e9bit ainsi\u00a0que la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 d\u2019analyse de nombreux \u00e9chantillons qui limitent leur\u00a0applicabilit\u00e9.<\/p><p>Des am\u00e9liorations sont n\u00e9cessaires pour r\u00e9pondre aux questions fondamentales :\u00a0<\/p><ol><li>&#8220;Qu&#8217;est-ce qui contr\u00f4le les changements spatiaux du flux de carbone oc\u00e9anique dominant la variabilit\u00e9 naturelle du climat?&#8221;<\/li><li>&#8220;Est-ce que la sensibilit\u00e9 du climat est corr\u00e9l\u00e9e avec l&#8217;\u00e9tat de base? &#8220;<\/li><\/ol><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Le projet ForCry permettra d\u2019atteindre une sensibilit\u00e9 optimale de la m\u00e9thodologie d&#8217;ablation au laser par la cong\u00e9lation de minuscules \u00e9chantillons dans un \u2018puck\u2019 de glace. Ceci permettra de r\u00e9aliser des analyses avec des \u00e9chantillons d\u2019une taille environ 10 fois inf\u00e9rieure aux m\u00e9thodes classiques tout en maintenant une bonne pr\u00e9cision. ForCry explorera de multiples facettes de la science du Syst\u00e8me Terre en \u00e9tendant l&#8217;utilisation de la m\u00e9thodologie d&#8217;ablation au laser \u00e0 de nouvelles archives fossiles, ainsi qu&#8217;\u00e0 la cartographie du changement de pH de l&#8217;oc\u00e9an dans les quatre dimensions (spatiale et temporelle).<\/p><p>Le changement de la teneur en CO2 sera utilis\u00e9 pour examiner la d\u00e9pendance de l&#8217;\u00e9tat de sensibilit\u00e9 climatique dans les p\u00e9riodes plus chaudes du pass\u00e9 g\u00e9ologique. ForCry examinera le r\u00f4le de l&#8217;oc\u00e9an dans la fixation et\/ou la r\u00e9gulation du CO2 pass\u00e9, pr\u00e9sent et futur \u00e0 une r\u00e9solution sans
