Cette compr\u00e9hension de la dynamique de la topographie des continents est cruciale pour l\u2019estimation des al\u00e9as naturels, en particulier sismique, et les \u00e9volutions des processus de surface en r\u00e9ponse aux changements environnementaux des futures d\u00e9cennies.<\/p><p>Une compr\u00e9hension globale de ces interactions complexes doit se faire sur de larges gammes d\u2019\u00e9chelles temporelles et spatiales, sur des objets g\u00e9ologiques vari\u00e9s et dans des contextes climatiques et g\u00e9odynamiques divers. La tectonique, le climat et les processus de surface, interagissent sur des \u00e9chelles de temps allant de l\u2019\u00e9v\u00e9nement quasi-instantan\u00e9 (s\u00e9isme, temp\u00eate) \u00e0 des millions d\u2019ann\u00e9es (construction et destruction des reliefs) et sur des \u00e9chelles spatiales allant du segment de faille \u00e0 la cha\u00eene de montagne.<\/p><p>Ces \u00e9tudes n\u00e9cessitent la quantification de l\u2019ensemble des processus dans un cadre chronologique bien contraint, et notre \u00e9quipe est reconnue internationalement pour l\u2019application des m\u00e9thodes de g\u00e9ochronologie du Quaternaire telles que les nucl\u00e9ides cosmog\u00e9niques ou la luminescence stimul\u00e9e optiquement (OSL). De m\u00eame, nous mettons en \u0153uvre les m\u00e9thodes de la g\u00e9omatique et de la t\u00e9l\u00e9d\u00e9tection pour cartographier et caract\u00e9riser g\u00e9om\u00e9triquement les marqueurs morphologiques de l\u2019\u00e9rosion et de la d\u00e9formation \u00e0 la surface de la Terre, allant de l\u2019\u00e9chelle continentale jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la tr\u00e8s haute r\u00e9solution du plan de faille.<\/p><p>Nous pouvons ainsi mesurer les vitesses des processus affectant la surface terrestre\u00a0: incision des rivi\u00e8res, \u00e9rosion des versant ou activit\u00e9 des failles. Ces donn\u00e9es nous permettent de comprendre la dynamique des processus de surface affectant les reliefs, en lien avec les for\u00e7ages climatiques et tectonique, mais aussi de caract\u00e9riser les al\u00e9as sismiques (datation d\u2019\u00e9v\u00e9nements sismiques, vitesse de faille actives, etc.), gravitaires (datation des phases de d\u00e9stabilisation) ou les \u00e9v\u00e9nements extr\u00eames qui affectent les littoraux (pal\u00e9o-tsunamis). <span style=\"color: black;\">Ces donn\u00e9es sont \u00e9galement fondamentales pour \u00e9tablir les niveaux naturels, li\u00e9s aux
