La stratification des eaux, exacerb\u00e9e par le r\u00e9chauffement global et l\u2019augmentation de la respiration microbienne, engendre une d\u00e9soxyg\u00e9nation progressive des eaux subsuperficielles. Cette situation perturbe non seulement les cycles biog\u00e9ochimiques mais menace \u00e9galement la biodiversit\u00e9 et les ressources halieutiques essentielles pour les populations locales.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Les c\u00f4tes s\u00e9n\u00e9galaises font face \u00e0 une extension progressive des zones anoxiques, en particulier dans les r\u00e9gions c\u00f4ti\u00e8res situ\u00e9es \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 des lagunes \u00e0 mangrove. L\u2019apport massif de mati\u00e8re organique par les mangroves, combin\u00e9 \u00e0 la d\u00e9soxyg\u00e9nation induite par le r\u00e9chauffement, modifie profond\u00e9ment les \u00e9quilibres biog\u00e9ochimiques. Ces perturbations peuvent entra\u00eener une r\u00e9duction de la qualit\u00e9 des ressources halieutiques et impacter n\u00e9gativement la p\u00eache locale, un secteur vital pour l\u2019\u00e9conomie r\u00e9gionale. Malgr\u00e9 l\u2019importance de ces enjeux, les m\u00e9canismes et l\u2019\u00e9volution de ces processus restent encore largement m\u00e9connus dans ce contexte.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Le projet MANGO vise \u00e0 \u00e9clairer ces ph\u00e9nom\u00e8nes complexes en \u00e9tudiant l\u2019\u00e9volution de la teneur en oxyg\u00e8ne et des cycles nutritifs dans les zones c\u00f4ti\u00e8res du S\u00e9n\u00e9gal, en mettant un accent particulier sur l\u2019influence des mangroves.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">L\u2019objectif principal de MANGO est de reconstruire l\u2019historique de la teneur en oxyg\u00e8ne au cours du dernier si\u00e8cle et de d\u00e9m\u00ealer les m\u00e9canismes responsables de ses variations. Plus pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment, le projet cherche \u00e0 comprendre:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Comment a \u00e9volu\u00e9 la teneur en oxyg\u00e8ne au cours du dernier si\u00e8cle le long des c\u00f4tes s\u00e9n\u00e9galaises?<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Parmi l\u2019\u00e9volution observ\u00e9e, quelle est la fraction attribu\u00e9e aux changements d\u2019origine oc\u00e9anique et celle li\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9volution des mangroves dans les lagunes?<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><br \/><\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pour r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 ces questions, MANGO adopte une approche int\u00e9gr\u00e9e et pluridisciplinaire :<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Terrain et pr\u00e9l\u00e8vements<\/b><b><br \/><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Des carottes s\u00e9dimentaires et des \u00e9chantillons de s\u00e9diments de surface seront pr\u00e9lev\u00e9s dans deux sites cl\u00e9s, situ\u00e9s aux embouchures des lagunes de Mbodi\u00e8ne et de Joal-Fadiouth. Ces pr\u00e9l\u00e8vements permettront de reconstruire la dynamique de l\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne sur une centaine d\u2019ann\u00e9es, en fonction des variations locales et oc\u00e9aniques.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Analyses biog\u00e9ochimiques<\/b><b><br \/><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Des mesures pr\u00e9cises d\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne, de pH et de temp\u00e9rature seront r\u00e9alis\u00e9es sur le terrain. En laboratoire, l\u2019\u00e9tude des isotopes stables du carbone (\u03b413C) et de l\u2019azote (\u03b415N) fournira des indicateurs robustes sur l\u2019origine et l\u2019\u00e9volution de la mati\u00e8re organique, ainsi que sur les processus de d\u00e9nitrification.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>\u00c9tude des foraminif\u00e8res benthiques<\/b><b><br \/><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ces micro-organismes, sensibles aux conditions d\u2019oxyg\u00e9nation, serviront de bio-indicateurs pour reconstituer l\u2019histoire des variations environnementales. Un syst\u00e8me d&#8217;imagerie low cost (SASHIMI), associ\u00e9 \u00e0 des outils d&#8217;IA d&#8217;annotation et d\u2019analyse morphom\u00e9trique, sera d\u00e9ploy\u00e9 afin d&#8217;automatiser l&#8217;identification et la quantification des esp\u00e8ces.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Mod\u00e9lisation s\u00e9dimentaire<\/b><b><br \/><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En calibrant un mod\u00e8le de s\u00e9diments (RADI), les donn\u00e9es recueillies seront int\u00e9gr\u00e9es afin de simuler la dynamique des gradients d\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne dans les s\u00e9diments. Cette mod\u00e9lisation permettra d\u2019identifier les processus dominants (d\u00e9gradation de mati\u00e8re organique, apports des mangroves, pr\u00e9cipitations min\u00e9rales) et de pr\u00e9dire leur \u00e9volution future.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><br \/><\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Le projet MANGO vise \u00e0 fournir une meilleure compr\u00e9hension des processus biog\u00e9ochimiques influen\u00e7ant les \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes c\u00f4tiers s\u00e9n\u00e9galais. En mettant en lumi\u00e8re l\u2019interaction entre apports mangroviens et conditions oc\u00e9aniques, il contribuera \u00e0 :<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La pr\u00e9servation des ressources halieutiques et la mise en place de strat\u00e9gies de gestion durable.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><br \/><\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Le renforcement des capacit\u00e9s locales en micropal\u00e9ontologie quantitative et en mod\u00e9lisation environnementale.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><br \/><\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Le d\u00e9veloppement de collaborations scientifiques internationales, favorisant des \u00e9changes Nord-Sud et Sud-Sud.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><br \/><\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En outre, MANGO s\u2019inscrit dans les axes prioritaires du LMI ECLAIRS 2 et participe activement aux initiatives de l\u2019IRD pour une
