From 15 to 18 September 2025, Haute-Provence Observatory<\/a> (OHP, 04870 Saint-Michel-l'Observatoire) hosted the 5\u1d49 meeting entitled \"Continental coring in France: innovation, expertise, federation and regulation\"<\/strong>organised by the French Continental Corers Network (CCF)<\/a>with the scientific support of CEREGE and the backing of theINSU<\/a>.<\/p>

This National Training Action brought together 40 participants from 12 Joint Research Units from: theFrench National Institute for the Sciences of the Universe (INSU)<\/a>, theInstitute of Ecology and Environment (INEE)<\/a>and theInstitute of Human and Social Sciences (INSHS).<\/a>These included technicians, engineers, researchers and students involved in continental coring. The workshops focused on wetlands<\/span> and rocks<\/span>, covering technical aspects, safety and existing innovations in France.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The two-and-a-half-day course alternated between feedback, presentations of current projects and practical workshops using different core drills (Cobra, hard rock, freeze coring<\/em>), giving participants the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the methods adapted to the various types of terrain and geological objects. The course concluded with a session on the preparation and follow-up of core sampling missions, followed by an opportunity for participants to exchange views and ideas.<\/p>

These activities contributed directly to the training objectives.<\/span>The aim was to bring together the scientific community involved in continental coring, provide information on the equipment available, raise awareness of safety issues, encourage the sharing of experience and provide training in the use of coring techniques adapted to different geological objects, whether rocks, soils or wetlands.<\/p>

Supported financially by the CNRS<\/a>,INSU<\/a>, ITEM<\/a> and ECCOREV,<\/a>the course has also strengthened collaboration between scientists from a variety of disciplines, encouraging the dissemination of know-how and innovation in the field of continental coring.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
