Une large gamme d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ments (de 7 \u00e0 250 unit\u00e9s de masse atomique) peut \u00eatre mesur\u00e9e \u00e0 des teneurs allant de 10-12 g\/ml \u00e0 10-6 g\/ml. Cette technique permet de s\u00e9parer les ions produits dans un plasma d\u2019argon en fonction de leur rapport masse\/charge gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un filtre de masse (quadrip\u00f4le) pour \u00eatre finalement d\u00e9tect\u00e9s par un multiplicateur d\u2019\u00e9lectrons.
