Il constitue un modulateur important du cycle du carbone oc\u00e9anique par le biais de la photosynth\u00e8se et de la calcification.<\/p><p>Les restes fossiles de plancton d\u00e9pos\u00e9s dans les fonds marins et pr\u00e9serv\u00e9s dans les s\u00e9diments contiennent des indices cl\u00e9s sur les changements climatiques pass\u00e9s, ainsi que sur les r\u00e9ponses biologiques et r\u00e9troactions associ\u00e9es.<\/p><p>L&#8217;oc\u00e9an Indien \u00e9quatorial occidental (WEIO) est un acteur majeur dans la dynamique oc\u00e9an-atmosph\u00e8re de l&#8217;oc\u00e9an tropical : il a un impact sur le climat global.<\/p><p>En 2021, la mission SCRATCH \u00e0 bord du navire oc\u00e9anographique Marion Dufresne II a collect\u00e9 dans le WEIO des carottes de s\u00e9diments de haute qualit\u00e9 couvrant\u00a0le Pl\u00e9istoc\u00e8ne (~2 millions d&#8217;ann\u00e9es), ceci dans le but de r\u00e9soudre la variabilit\u00e9 climatique et l&#8217;activit\u00e9 volcanique pass\u00e9es dans cette r\u00e9gion importante. Dans ce projet, nous proposons d&#8217;\u00e9tudier la co\u00e9volution du plancton et du climat au cours du Pl\u00e9istoc\u00e8ne.<\/p><p>Nous effectuerons des analyses pal\u00e9og\u00e9n\u00e9tiques, de biomarqueurs et micropal\u00e9ontologiques, ainsi que la reconstruction de variables pal\u00e9oc\u00e9anographiques cl\u00e9s pour reconstruire le changement climatique, dans quatre carottes s\u00e9dimentaires pr\u00e9lev\u00e9es pendant la campagne SCRATCH. En utilisant des m\u00e9thodologies de pointe dans trois instituts partenaires, nous combinerons l&#8217;expertise en pal\u00e9oc\u00e9anographie, g\u00e9ochimie organique, g\u00e9n\u00e9tique et micropal\u00e9ontologie pour tester l&#8217;hypoth\u00e8se selon laquelle les changements cycliques dans la morphologie des fossiles de plancton repr\u00e9sentent une \u00e9volution g\u00e9n\u00e9tique, forc\u00e9e par des cycles climatiques externes.
