{"id":21526,"date":"2023-11-07T14:26:30","date_gmt":"2023-11-07T13:26:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cerege.fr\/?p=21526"},"modified":"2024-02-20T15:45:41","modified_gmt":"2024-02-20T14:45:41","slug":"le-co2-atmospherique-lie-a-la-ventilation-des-eaux-oceaniques","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cerege.fr\/fr\/le-co2-atmospherique-lie-a-la-ventilation-des-eaux-oceaniques\/","title":{"rendered":"Le CO2 atmosph\u00e9rique li\u00e9 \u00e0 la ventilation des eaux oc\u00e9aniques?"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"21526\" class=\"elementor elementor-21526\" data-elementor-post-type=\"post\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-f0d9e20 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"f0d9e20\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-66 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-3250772\" data-id=\"3250772\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-cfda107 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"cfda107\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><em>Le 26 octobre 2023, Nature Geosciences publie<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41561-023-01297-x\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> &#8220;Millennial atmospheric CO2 changes linked to ocean ventilation modes over past 150,000 years&#8221;.<\/a><br \/><\/em><\/p><p>La ventilation des eaux oc\u00e9aniques profondes, riches en carbone, peut fortement affecter le CO<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0atmosph\u00e9rique, mais son histoire \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9chelle mill\u00e9naire est mal connue.\u00a0<\/p><p>Les mesures des pal\u00e9o-concentration de CO<sub>2<\/sub> atmosph\u00e9rique effectu\u00e9es dans les bulles d&#8217;air des carottes de glaces polaires pr\u00e9sentent &#8211; pour les stades froids (<em>stadials<\/em>) de l&#8217;Atlantique Nord , de dur\u00e9e mill\u00e9naire &#8211; des tendances contrast\u00e9es \u00e9nigmatiques (hausses, baisses ou stabilit\u00e9).\u00a0Cet article pr\u00e9sente un enregistrement &#8211; \u00e0 haute r\u00e9solution et bien dat\u00e9 sur les derniers 150 000 ans &#8211; \u00a0des variations de l&#8217;acidit\u00e9 des eaux profondes de l&#8217;Atlantique Nord. Il r\u00e9v\u00e8le pour les stades froids, cinq modes de ventilation oc\u00e9anique et leurs cons\u00e9quences pour le stockage du carbone par l&#8217;oc\u00e9an et pour les variations de concentration en CO<sub>2<\/sub> atmosph\u00e9rique.\u00a0<\/p><p>Nos donn\u00e9es (ratio Bore\/Calcium, proxy de l&#8217;ion carbonate (CO<sub>3<\/sub><sup>(2-)<\/sup>) mesur\u00e9 sur une esp\u00e8ce de foraminif\u00e8re benthique, au long d&#8217;une carotte s\u00e9dimentaire de la marge ib\u00e9rique) d\u00e9montrent que lors des stades associ\u00e9s \u00e0 une forte augmentation du CO<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0atmosph\u00e9rique, l&#8217;oc\u00e9an Austral fortement ventil\u00e9 a lib\u00e9r\u00e9 de fortes quantit\u00e9s de carbone issu de ses eaux profondes.\u00a0D&#8217;autres stades froids ont \u00e9t\u00e9 caract\u00e9ris\u00e9s par une faible ventilation des oc\u00e9ans austral et atlantique nord, ce qui favorisait l&#8217;accumulation de carbone dans l&#8217;oc\u00e9an profond, ralentissant le transfert de CO<sub>2\u00a0 <\/sub>\u00e0 l&#8217;atmosph\u00e8re, ou l&#8217;inversant, avec pour cons\u00e9quence une baisse du CO<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0atmosph\u00e9rique.\u00a0<\/p><p>Cet article d\u00e9montre qu&#8217;\u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9chelle mill\u00e9naire le stockage de carbone par l&#8217;oc\u00e9an et la teneur en CO<sub>2 <\/sub>atmosph\u00e9rique sont modul\u00e9s par plusieurs modes de ventilation oc\u00e9anique r\u00e9sultant de l&#8217;interaction des deux r\u00e9gions polaires, et non pas du seul oc\u00e9an austral.<\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41561-023-01297-x#auth-J_-Yu-Aff1-Aff2-Aff3\" data-test=\"author-name\" data-track=\"click\" data-track-action=\"open author\" data-track-label=\"link\" data-author-popup=\"auth-J_-Yu-Aff1-Aff2-Aff3\" data-corresp-id=\"c1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">J.
