Son projet NanoCLICS, soutenu par une bourse prestigieuse<a href=\"https:\/\/erc.europa.eu\/sites\/default\/files\/2025-06\/erc-2024-adg-results-all-domains.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> ERC Advanced Grants<\/a>, propose un nouveau regard sur les m\u00e9canismes de stabilisation du carbone organique dans les sols.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">Alors que les sols constituent le plus grand r\u00e9servoir terrestre de carbone organique, le d\u00e9tail de la mani\u00e8re dont ce carbone peut \u00eatre stock\u00e9 durablement reste encore mal compris. C\u2019est pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment cette complexit\u00e9 que le projet NanoCLICS cherche \u00e0 explorer, en combinant observation manom\u00e9trique, exp\u00e9rimentations et mod\u00e9lisation.<\/p><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b500c8d elementor-widget-divider--view-line elementor-widget elementor-widget-divider\" data-id=\"b500c8d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"divider.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-divider\">\n\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-divider-separator\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-682ada4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"682ada4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Comprendre la stabilisation du carbone dans les sols<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8d3eabd elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8d3eabd\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Le sol est une v\u00e9ritable usine naturelle o\u00f9 la mati\u00e8re organique issue principalement des racines est fragment\u00e9e et transform\u00e9e par une multitude d\u2019organismes vivants, notamment vers, bact\u00e9ries et champignons. Ce processus produit \u00e0 la fois du dioxyde de carbone (CO2) rel\u00e2ch\u00e9 dans l\u2019atmosph\u00e8re et des compos\u00e9s organiques qui peuvent rester dans le sol pendant des dur\u00e9es tr\u00e8s variables, allant de quelques heures \u00e0 plusieurs milliers d\u2019ann\u00e9es.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-inner-section elementor-element elementor-element-4affbd8 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"4affbd8\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-8b4ee57\" data-id=\"8b4ee57\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2504f42 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2504f42\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div><p>Le principal m\u00e9canisme reconnu jusqu\u2019\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent pour expliquer cette conservation du carbone est la protection assur\u00e9e par la mati\u00e8re min\u00e9rale du sol. Les surfaces min\u00e9rales serviraient de bouclier en emp\u00eachant la d\u00e9gradation microbienne des mol\u00e9cules organiques.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"p1\">Cependant, cette th\u00e9orie classique repose sur un mod\u00e8le de surfaces min\u00e9rales parfaitement ordonn\u00e9es sur lesquelles la mati\u00e8re organique se d\u00e9pose en couches successives. Or, cette hypoth\u00e8se n\u2019a jamais pu \u00eatre directement valid\u00e9e par des observations sur des sols naturels, notamment dans des environnements volcaniques riches en carbone.<\/p><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element alternative et plus proche des conditions naturelles des sols : ce ne sont pas des surfaces min\u00e9rales parfaites mais des structures irr\u00e9guli\u00e8res, issues de l\u2019alt\u00e9ration naturelle des min\u00e9raux, qui jouent un r\u00f4le central dans la stabilisation du carbone.<\/p><p>Ces assemblages manom\u00e9triques, qu\u2019Isabelle nomme nanoCLICS (nanosized coprecipitates of inorganic oligomers with organics), sont compos\u00e9s d\u2019assemblages d\u2019atomes de fer, silicium, aluminium et autres \u00e9l\u00e9ments, li\u00e9s \u00e0 la mati\u00e8re organique dans une structure tridimensionnelle complexe et tr\u00e8s r\u00e9active.<\/p><p>Cette nouvelle repr\u00e9sentation ouvre la voie \u00e0 une meilleure compr\u00e9hension des processus chimiques et physiques qui rendent possible le pi\u00e9geage durable du carbone dans le sol.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b1bc49b elementor-widget__width-initial elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b1bc49b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" elementor-size-default\">Un projet pluridisciplinaire au service de la transition \u00e9cologique<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8b89082 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8b89082\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Le projet NanoCLICS a pour ambition d\u2019\u00e9tudier ces assemblages dans dix sols europ\u00e9ens repr\u00e9sentatifs, en associant syst\u00e9matiquement un sol cultiv\u00e9 \u00e0 un sol moins perturb\u00e9 comme une for\u00eat ou une prairie. Pour cela, des techniques issues des nanosciences permettront d\u2019observer et de caract\u00e9riser ces structures \u00e0 une \u00e9chelle in\u00e9dite. En laboratoire, des colonnes remplies de sols artificiels et de plantes serviront \u00e0 suivre la formation, l\u2019\u00e9volution et la destruction des nanoCLICS en conditions contr\u00f4l\u00e9es. Par ailleurs, un travail de mod\u00e9lisation sera men\u00e9 pour quantifier l\u2019impact de ces structures sur la dynamique globale du carbone dans le sol. Au-del\u00e0 de la recherche fondamentale, ces r\u00e9sultats pourraient d\u00e9boucher sur des applications concr\u00e8tes, telles que l\u2019am\u00e9lioration des pratiques agricoles afin d\u2019augmenter la s\u00e9questration du carbone dans les sols, contribuant ainsi \u00e0 la lutte contre le changement climatique.
