Ces coquilles jouent un r\u00f4le cl\u00e9 dans le transfert du carbone de l\u2019atmosph\u00e8re vers les profondeurs oc\u00e9aniques et influencent la chimie de l\u2019eau de mer. Ensemble, ces organismes r\u00e9gulent le &#8220;thermostat&#8221; de la Terre et contribuent \u00e0 stabiliser le climat. \u00ab Les coquilles de plancton sont minuscules, mais ensemble elles fa\u00e7onnent la chimie de nos oc\u00e9ans et le climat de notre plan\u00e8te \u00bb, souligne <span class=\"s1\">Patrizia Ziveri<\/span>, autrice principale de class=\"p1\">Les chercheurs alertent sur le fait que les mod\u00e8les actuels sous-estiment la diversit\u00e9 et les processus li\u00e9s \u00e0 ces planctons, notamment la dissolution superficielle du carbonate de calcium dans les couches sup\u00e9rieures de l\u2019oc\u00e9an.
