My research centers on the ecology and diversity of plankton, with a specialized focus on planktonic Foraminifera. I explore how climate change currently shapes, and will continue to influence, their distribution across the Global Ocean. My expertise lies in comprehensive data synthesis and analysis, highlighted by contributions to projects like the FORCIS database, where I examine complex ecological patterns and assess climate impacts on plankton communities.
Locally, I investigate how deoxygenation, acidification, and warming shape planktonic and benthic foraminiferal assemblages across coastal–open ocean transects in West and East Africa. Using water-column observations, fossil records, and multiple proxies, including foraminiferal assemblages, shell morphometrics, geochemical tracers (I/Ca, Mg/Ca, B/Ca), and fish-scale preservation, combined with niche modeling, I study how environmental forcing drives species distribution, shell adaptation, and ecosystem resilience over time.
