My major research interests include oceanology, ecology, palaeoclimate and climate change at present. I am interested in the impact of environmental and climatic changes on ecosystems, biodiversity and past human populations. The primary focus of my current research is on the coral reef-based reconstruction of Mid- to Late Holocene sea-level changes in French Polynesia, South-Central Pacific, and last interglacial sea-level and climatic changes in the Seychelles, Indian Ocean. Furthermore, I am interested in palaeoenvironmental reconstructions conducting growth pattern, stable isotope and trace element analyses on biogenic carbonates (sclerochronology). My approach to research is multi- and interdisciplinary through fostering strong collaborations with colleagues with training in geology, geography, geochemistry, sedimentology, oceanology, climate modelling, ecology, sclerochronology, palaeontology, and archaeology.
