INSU-LEFE/ EC2CO CHEMICAL

The INSU/LEFE "CHEMICAL" project exploits this new equipment by focusing on monsoon changes in two key areas near the equator: West Africa and the equatorial East Pacific, by looking at the isotopic signature (dD) of n-alkanes (to reconstruct continental precipitation) and alkenones (to reconstruct surface ocean salinity) extracted from terrestrial and marine sedimentary sequences.

These new isotopic tools from sedimentary organic matter complete the analytical tools dedicated to the study of water cycle changes at low latitudes.
