Our commitment to equality

CEREGE implements an active policy in favour of equality and the prevention of discrimination.

The Equality Unit

Created in 2019, the equality unit acts at the level of CEREGE and the’OSU Pytheas to promote gender equality.

Since 2019, the CEREGE publishes an annual gender report (see below).

The indicators are analysed by gender and by body:

  • Workforce

  • Age pyramid

  • Recruitment

  • Career development

  • Responsibilities

  • Supporting projects

  • PhDs

The representation of women is also monitored in :

  • Guest seminars

  • Submissions

  • Juries

  • Recruitment (theses, post-doctorates, ATER)

These data are put into perspective with those of the CNRS and’Aix-Marseille University.

When inequality is systemic (rather than cyclical), it cannot be explained by individual factors alone.

The differences are the result of a number of interlocking factors:

  • private sphere

  • educational tour

  • working environment

  • institutional organisation

  • social systems

  • collective representations and stereotypes

The unit has a number of key initiatives:

Training in implicit gender bias

Designed primarily for people in positions of responsibility (teams, platforms, committees).

  • Based on research results

  • Hosted by Isabelle Régner and Magali Putero

  • Format: 3 x 2-hour workshops, groups of around 15 people

Programme « Dare! Women in Higher Education® (ESR) "

Objective: to remove the obstacles to women's careers in higher education and research.

  • French adaptation of the Springboard Tremplin programme

  • 12 participants per year

  • Funded by the MIOthe LAM and CEREGE

Mentoring programme for young female researchers

Internal awareness campaigns

  • Equality Cafés

  • For Women« lunches»

The unit recommends that continuous vigilance be maintained to ensure that the representation of women reaches at least their proportion in the workforce. It is available to support all members of the laboratory and can be contacted for :

  • report a problem

  • ask a question

  • exchange ideas in complete confidentiality

In particular, it works to prevent and deal with discrimination and sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).
