Soil development under stress
The ED team's research into the evolution of soils under stress tackles a number of different issues.
Soil “health
The aim is to assess the threats to soil resources in relation to their uses and ecosystem functions. Our research involves field observation, the study/construction of databases and multi-criteria indicators or indices, and process modelling, in order to address these issues on different geographical and time scales.
The dynamics of organic matter in soils
In order to gain a better understanding of the link between soil properties, or its use, and its carbon storage capacity, our approaches link field holistics with laboratory mechanics, and aim to shed light on the interactions at play at the soil-plant-micro-organism interface, through a transfer of scale from the nm to the territory.
Bioavailability of Si in soils
A beneficial element for plants, as it minimises stress, for which the study of dynamics in the soil involves identifying storage pools and studying speciation in relation to amendments and uses.
