INSU-LEFE/ EC2CO CHEMICAL

The INSU/LEFE "CHEMICAL" project is exploiting this new equipment by looking at monsoon changes in two key areas close to the equator: West Africa and the equatorial eastern Pacific, by looking at the isotopic signature (dD) of n-alkanes (to reconstruct continental precipitation) and alkenones (to reconstruct surface ocean salinity) extracted from terrestrial and marine sedimentary sequences.

These new isotopic tools derived from sedimentary organic matter will add to the range of analytical tools dedicated to studying changes in the water cycle at low latitudes.
