The common thread of my research is the structural and kinematic evolution of arcuate subduction and collision belts. Acquisition of field data led me to work on the main subduction related mountains arcs of Europe (Alps, Apennines, Carpathians, Pontides, Crimea) and the Caribbean arc.

Research topics:

- Structure and neotectonics of arcuate chains of subduction and collision.

- Geodynamics of the Tethys Ocean closure (Romania, Turkey, Ukraine).

- Giant gravitational deformation in the Alpine chain: the sackungs.

- Messinian canyons, markers of recent and active tectonic deformation.
